"Make a contract with me, and become a Puella Magi!"

After being approached by the strange creature, you made a contract with him and became a magical girl—a Puella Magi (or Puer for the guys). In exchange for having one wish granted, you must fight witches and collect Grief Seeds in order to keep your Soul Gem bright and clean!

But witch hunting is dangerous work -- do you have what it takes to walk the path of a Puella Magi?

1. Teamwork, go! You've got another Magi at your side and the two of you are working together to fight this witch!

2. Oh, err... you've stumbled into another Puella Magi's territory and they're not happy about it. Get your dukes up and prepare to fight!

3. You're a newbie Puella Magi trying to find your way in the world. Lucky you've got a mentor who can teach you how it goes!

4. One minute everything's good and normal and suddenly the whole world is topsy-turvy—the fact that you're just a regular (and probably very confused) person isn't helping this whole trapped-in-a-witch-barrier situation you've found yourself stuck in at all, and you'd probably be toast if there wasn't this Magi here saving your butt!

5. You didn't think that things could be so serious, so hard in the life of a Magi—not until you both just had to watch a friend's gruesome death at the hands of a witch. What are you going to do now?

6. The awful truth has made itself known. You have discovered, in some way or another, that your Soul Gem actually contains your soul and now your body is little more than a meat puppet. It's okay to cry.

7. This is it; the end. You or your friend have fallen into despair and the awful truth has made itself known—Puella Magi mature into witches. You have become a witch.

8. You may have heard stories of this witch but never thought it could be so powerful. The Walpurgis Night is here and devastating your city, and you are the one who has to stop it.

Ever since you started acting weird... Something about that just seemed so wrong.

[ turns the ring over and over in her hands and just stares at it for a while ]

I think I fucked up.

Fucked up? How?

[polygraphing]

I thought I was broken before all this, but you didn't. Then I made my wish to try and fix myself, but now I'm just so broken that you can tell too.

[ slowly looks up ] This whole thing was just one big fuck up.

[notyouraigis]

A... A wish to try and fix yourself? Mandya, what exactly did you wish for? A-and why would you think that you were "broken" before?

[polygraphing]

[ turns away, looks at the ground ]

Before...... Whenever I'd start to get close to someone, I just couldn't handle it. It was like I couldn't breathe. So I'd push back and run away and lose them.

I didn't want that to happen with you and Bharal. So when I made my wish, I asked for that to stop. And it did, I haven't felt like that since.

[ she hasn't felt a lot of things ]

[notyouraigis]

[ Eighis looks horrified. Devastated. Like he's about to just break. And after today? Dear god, does he want to break. Oh, sure, he's holding it together now. But just barely. ]

If you had run away, then Bharal and I would have run after you. You didn't have to... You shouldn't have...

[polygraphing]

I know you would've. I guess I just wanted to try and solve my problem myself for once. So I did.

[ shrugs ] But I guess that didn't work out, huh.

[notyouraigis]

[ Eighis just slumps in... defeat? depression? devastation? just plain sadness? It doesn't really matter which, since he's feeling all of these right now. ]

You were never broken, Mandya. There was no reason for you to go and try to "fix yourself."

[polygraphing]

Yeah, I guess. I dunno, I think at the time I just felt like it was what I had to do.

[ that look on her face is back, the one that looks like her features aren't cooperating with the expression she's trying to make ] And well, I'm broken now, so it doesn't really matter anymore.

[notyouraigis]

...Maybe...

Maybe we could try asking that furry bastard to reverse it. He'd probably want a soul or something in exchange, but if it comes down to that, I'll give him mine.

[polygraphing]

No! [ she yells that, and suddenly it's like the mask is broken, but only for a split second ]

Don't make a contract with him. I..... I can deal with this. Just because I'm a little broken it doesn't mean I don't still work.

So just don't, okay. Please?

[notyouraigis]

Are you really sure about this? I know you said that you can deal with this, but... you don't have to. If you were entirely happy about this, you wouldn't keep describing yourself as "broken".

[polygraphing]

Totally sure. I may not like it, I guess, but I can deal with it.

So just, don't make a deal with him. Keep doing what you've been doing, that's enough.

[notyouraigis]

Enough? [ a quiet, humorless laugh ] It sure as hell doesn't feel like enough.

I'm supposed to be the so-called "smart one", but all the knowledge at my disposal is useless against those things. [ another quiet laugh, this one more bitter than the last. ] And you'd think that I would have thought to ask the little bastard for details as to what exactly this contract entailed. [ even he is surprised that he didn't. ]

[polygraphing]

It's enough, trust me.

[ sort of shifts her weight to one leg awkwardly ] You are smart , but that doesn't mean you could've stopped me from making this dumb decision. I think I probably would've ended up like this somehow no matter what.

[notyouraigis]

[ None of Mandya's arguments have been enough to convince him no to make the contract. So he's made up his mind. He's going to ask Kyubey what exactly the contract entails. And then he's going to make the contract. He still believes that he is not enough. ]

I'm still not convinced, Mandya.

[polygraphing]

[ she looks only mildly upset, but that's about the limit to what she can bring herself to do right now ]

Then how can I convince you?

[notyouraigis]

You could try explaining why you don't want me to contract. Besides the obvious reasons, of course. But, honestly, I'm not sure if even that will convince me.

[polygraphing]

[ she pauses only briefly ]

Because I don't want you to die like I will.

[notyouraigis]

Stupid. What the hell am I supposed to do if you die?

[polygraphing]

Not be dumb like me. Do something cool with your life.

[ she pauses again, trying to find the right words ]

Live enough for both of us.

[notyouraigis]

I'm not sure I can. I think I've forgotten how to do this whole "living" thing without you and Bharal.

[polygraphing]

You'll remember. I mean, you managed before, didn't you?

[ shrugs a bit at that. disregards the fact that her life was kinda shit before she met eighis and bharal ]
